To all the member's who do
not believe that a Speck will get this big, Walter Fink is showing a five
pounder (weighed with a BogaGrip) that he caught during the Port St Joe camping
trip. To the eagle eyed fishermen, yes that is a pink Bass Assassin that was
used to catch him, and, the fish was released to fight another day.

5-15-2008
Not all of the time spent at
Port St Joe was utilized by fishing, Some was time was spent eating fresh
oysters and drinking cold beer. (L-R) Yale Coleman, John Schliech, Gregor
Rorison, Bob Wetzel, Walt Fink and Greg Hall did their very best trying to
deplete the oyster population locally. They failed !

3-25-2008
The club's award banquet was
held at the Happy Panda and the group above were the top ten anglers for 2007.
Shown from left to right, Tom Rogers, Greg Hall, Yale Coleman, Ed Frazier, Sam
Wolfe, Ken Cube, Kurt Hammerschmidt, Mike Gaines and Tom Mauney.
Gregor Rorison was not present.

1-6-2007
Mike Smith fished the Three
Mile bridge and broke in his Christmas presents by landing this pretty Red. He
caught the fish using 8lb test line and a live shrimp. Reports are coming in
that the fishing is great but the catching slow. Flounder have moved out of the
Bay, and so far, the Sheepshead have not been cooperating.

10-14-2006
Mike Smith boated this fine
pair of Pompano while fishing in the club's tournament. They were caught fishing
from Shoreline Park.

Bayou Texar Landing 9-16-2006
Although on the small size
and not actually Trout, these pompano were caught during a tournament. Walt
caught his on a top water High Roller plug and Greg caught the other using a
Grub. They also boated a Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and three Lizard
fish. They would appreciate any advise on how to catch the targeted species,
Trout.

Bill Childers
Jan 15 1937 - March 30 2006
Bill lost his battle with cancer and left us Thursday. Bill had been in the club
since 1977 and had served as president, vice president and secretary. He was the
cook at many of our fish fries and an avid promoter of the trips to Port St Joe
and Lake Talquin. Bill could always be counted upon to bring a smile to our
faces and pass on his enthusiasm for the outdoors to all he met. Bill, we will
miss you.

The Club's annual banquet was another success. A great meal was followed with
the awarding of certificates of merit for the top fishermen of the
year. (left to right) Sam Wolfe, Fisherman of the year. The top ten
fishermen, not in order of standings are Dave Frazier, Ed Frazier and Wendell
Hood.

Bob Wetzel boated this ten pound plus
Striper while fishing for Specks in the Blackwater River. He caught the fish on
a green DOA using eight pound test spinning gear.

Louisiana Trip Memorial
Day 2005
A fine assortment of fresh fish caught prior to the bayou being destroyed by
hurricane Katrina. A group of trout club members traveled to Bobby Lynn's Marina
in Leesville Louisiana.
(L to R) Randy Suarez, Greg Moe, Don Suarez, Dave Frazier, Ed Frazier, Yale
Coleman, and Joe Davis.

Louisiana Trip 2005
Kurt Hammerschmidt and Mike Gaines and preparing to leave the dock for a day of
catching. (fishing in Louisiana is that good). The docks and building shown
suffered heavily from hurricane Katrina.

Mike Helms, Sherman Cove's
Dockmaster, is proudly displaying the new docks that have recently been
installed at NAS Pensacola, Florida. The docks are floating and attached to
steel posts that allow the docks to raise vertically twenty feet. A Storm of
hurricane Ivan's strength should cause little or no damage to this system. The
docks still need the boarding ramps and numerous cleats installed, and power and
water which is now available placed on each dock. The Porch Patrol crowd is
looking forward for the installation of the gazebo and a fish cleaning table.

10-16-2005
The club proved once and for all that we are not Bass fishermen. Only one member
showed any accuracy by even coming close to the bucket much less in it. Sam
Wolfe gave Greg Hall all the assistance he could, but casting is not a skill
required for Specks.

9-22-2004
These are photos of Sherman Cove taken after hurricane Ivan. All the boats seen
were in the East lot. A wall of water washed them out of the lot over the chain
link fence and left them at the side of the road.

The roof and walls of the office have been
completely removed from the foundation.

The recently rebuilt pier has been lifted at
least four feet from level.

The women's bathroom still has the most
important item.

These boats are on the North side of the
road.

The boat seen here belongs to John Young. He tied it to the fence with a piece
of quarter inch line. It was the only boat to remain in the lot and was
undamaged.

Port St. Joe 5-24-04
Preston, John junior, and John senior Ramsey displayed one mornings catch from
PSJ.

Port St. Joe 5-24-04
John Ramsey took this
picture of an Armadillo swimming near Black's Island. Up until now it was
thought that an Armadillo was too heavy to swim. Another myth dispelled by the
observant members of the Pensacola Speckled Trout Club.

Port St. Joe 5-24-04
HE IS THE MAN.
Yale Coleman boated this 28" Speckled Trout during our annual
camping/fishing trip to PSJ by fishing with a pink Bass Assassin. Yale and his
crew were roughing it at PSJ by staying in the Dixie Belle Motel (no swimming
pool).
